NICE guideline on Obesity: identification, assessment and management
This guideline published on the NICE website covers identifying, assessing and managing obesity in children (aged 2 years and over), young people and adults. In September 2022, evidence was reviewed on anthropometric measures for assessing health risks associated with overweight and obesity in adults and updated the recommendations on identifying and assessing overweight, obesity and central adiposity. NICE has also produced guidelines on obesity prevention, maintaining a healthy weight, and lifestyle weight management services for adults and for children and young people.

This new guideline covers children and young people in primary and secondary education (key stages 1 to 5). It also covers people 25 years and under with special educational needs or disability in further education.

This guideline covers ways to support social, emotional and mental wellbeing in children and young people in primary and secondary education (key stages 1 to 5), and people 25 years and under with special educational needs or disability in further education colleges. It aims to promote good social, emotional and psychological health to protect children and young people against behavioural and health problems.
