What is it?

A training course covering goal setting and standardised measures suitable for use with children with cerebral palsy.

Who is it for?

Paediatric physiotherapists and occupational therapists.

Pre-course requirements – previous clinical experience of children with cerebral palsy

AIM:

To extend course participants knowledge of currently available outcome measures suitable for the child with cerebral palsy and to further refine their goal setting skills.

OBJECTIVES:

  • To refine goal setting skills and be able to aply Goal Attainment scaling for the child with cerebral palsy.
  • To demonstrate knowledge of a range of standardised outcome measures valid for the child with cerebral palsy (gross motor, daily activities, participation and quality of life).
  • To be able to select measures appropriate for individual children
  • To demonstrate knowledge of the key strategies that can increase therapist’s use of outcome measures

How will the course be taught?

Lectures, practical workshops and video presentations.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:

This course may involve participants practising administering some test items on each other, therefore please wear comfortable non-restrictive clothing.
