Q & A with Jane Simonds - APCP Research Officer

APCP Research and Education Bursaries

Q - What are the APCP Research and Education Bursaries?

A - These are funding awards available to APCP members to support their clinical research and postgraduate research- related education.  Funding is available for both research activities and for educational activities related to research.  Details of the funding awards available each year can be found on the APCP website.

Research funding may be awarded to members undertaking research projects to assist with the cost of essential equipment and resources, such as transcription services, software, and expert services.  Research funding may also awarded to cover travel costs associated with data collection or to support dissemination of the research at conferences.  Funding will not, however, be awarded to cover a researcher's salary backfill or general commuting expenses.

Education funding may be awarded cover course fees for members undertaking courses specifically related to research (e.g. research skills, research modules), but not for clinical courses and CPD.

Q - How can a member apply for a bursary?

A - Members can apply online for bursaries between 1st November - 1st February each year.  A second round of applications will be accepted later in the year, unless all funding has already been awarded for that year.

Anyone interested in applying for funding should see Research and Education Bursary information on the APCP website.

Q - Are there any conditions attached to bursary awards?

A - Yes.  Members who are awarded funding will be required to submit an article for the APCP Newsletter or make a submission to the APCP Journal.  Researchers will also be expected to include an acknowledgment of APCP funding in any dissemination of their research.  Full terms and conditions can be found here.
