Frankie Daly, Head Paediatric Physiotherapist, Dorset County Hospital - 26 years’ experience as a physiotherapist. Background of MSK, orthopaedics and general paediatrics. Qualified from UWCM (Cardiff University) in 1999 and spent 8 years working for Gwent NHS Trust rotating through adult services with a focus of MSK and orthopaedics before staying permanently in paediatrics.
She moved to Dorset in 2007 and became the Head Paediatric Physiotherapist in 2013 after having her third child. Frankie takes the MSK lead for the team, but also covers all areas of paediatric physio. Outside of work, Frankie is a huge follower of women’s rugby, she also plays badminton and has just become a qualified sea swimming coach.
Ali Matthews - Band 7, highly specialist physiotherapist, SDR, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children - 25 years experience as a physiotherapist, 23 years in neurology both Paediatric and adult. Has worked in community setting and in acute hospital.
Qualified from Sheffield Hallam University in 2001 and spent nearly 3 years working in Sheffield teaching hospitals acute trust. Ali lived and worked in New Zealand for a year in 2004 then moved back to the southwest of England in 2005 and worked in adult neuro rehabilitation until 2016 when she made the move in to Paediatrics.
Ali was the lead physio for a large special school until moving to the Children's hospital in 2024. Ali has extensive experience of running the serial casting service in the community and is now supporting the development of the casting team within the acute setting. Ali is the CPIP database lead for the south west and is passionate about using CPIP data as an indicator and outcome measure for serial casting. Outside of work Ali is a keen runner and plays Cello for the Bristol Metropolitan orchestra.

- To understand the rationale behind serial casting of the lower limb, in Idiopathic Toe Walkers and for children with Cerebral Palsy.
- Indications and contraindications for serial casting.
- Awareness of different casting techniques and materials used.
- The opportunity to practice casting techniques.
