Q & A with Jane Simmonds - APCP Research Officer

APCP Annual Conference Abstract Submissions

Q - What opportunities are there to disseminate my research at the APCP Annual Conference?

A - The APCP Annual Conference normally take places in October / November each year.  Submissions are accepted between 1st February and  1st June.

Members and non-members are invited to submit abstracts for poster and/or oral presentation.  Abstracts must be relevant to the field of paediatric physiotherapy – they may be research-focused, education or clinically-focused and should be evidence-based.

If you have relevant research to share, I'd really encourage you to consider submitting an abstract, as the APCP Conference is a really great opportunity to share your research and to network with paediatric physiotherapists across the UK and internationally.

You will find information about abstract submissions on the APCP website.

Before submitting your abstract, you should ensure that you (or at least one of your co-authors) is available to attend conference if your abstract is selected for presentation as a poster or for oral presentation.

Q - What happens if my abstract is accepted?

A - Abstracts are selected by peer review for inclusion in the conference.  You will sent an email to confirm whether or not your abstract has been accepted or we may offer some advice to help you to amend your abstract for re-submission.

If your  abstract is selected, you (or at least one of your co-authors) will be expected to attend conference.  You will be responsible for your own costs, including conference registration fees and travel expenses.

We will provide guidance about what will be expected of your during conference and are always happy to offer additional support and advice if required.

All accepted abstracts will be published in the December issue of the APCP Journal.  If you have been invited to present your work orally, you may also be invited to submit an article for inclusion in the APCP Journal.  The APCP Journal Editorial Team will be on hand to offer guidance and support for this.

Q - Who can I contact if I have any questions about my abstract submission?

A - APCP is very committed to supporting researchers and we particularly want to support members who are new to research, and so I am always very happy to be contacted if you need any advice or support about submitting a conference abstract.  Contact me at: research@apcp.org.uk
