Children's Therapy Services staff at St George NHS Trust have been actively promoting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in their workplace.
APCP member, Kas Minowa-Astridgeworks at St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where she and other members of the Children's Therapies staff have been actively promoting Equity, Diversity and Inclusion by:
- Delivered Anti-Racism in service training (IST) to paediatric physiotherapy colleagues, sharing experiences and information to colleagues
- Added Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) to the paediatric physiotherapy team meeting agenda
- Added quarterly IST on Anti-Racism, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion
- Contacted Trust's diversity network and arranged an in service training workshop session, led and facilitated by BAME Network Chair
- Created Children's Therapies Ethnic Diversity Working Party which reported to the Trust's Board (elected for National BAME Health and Care Awards)
- Created Working Party Commitments
- Created "Black Lives Matter" poster
- Developed EDI Display in Children's Therapy departments, including LGBTQIA+ posters and NHS diversity images
- Organised and led EDI Supervision/workshops, open to all Children's Therapies staff (over 100 invited, over 60 attended), on-going throughout year
- Staff from ethnic backgrounds and different therapy disciplines presented at Children's Therapies virtual student Open Day
- Joined CSP Black, Asian and Ethnic Minority Network
- Attended CSP Diversity network events (I. E. workshops, meetings)
- Networked with local physios from diverse ethnic backgrounds
