Engagement with the Paediatricians has faired better than with Orthopaedics colleagues in the North to date. However, Rebecca Tate (Orthopaedic Surgeon) is taking a lead for Orthopaedics and alongside therapists in the Northern part of the region is working hard to increase engagement with others to contribute to funding for a shared patient management system across the Northern part of the region. 6 monthly meetings continue which have expanded now to include medical practitioners.
A meeting was held in November 2019 led by Mrs Tate, with key representatives from orthopaedics, paediatrics (Sunderland and Newcastle) and physiotherapists to raise awareness of CPIP to the wider group of medical practitioners in the region and to consider how to pool funds to reach the required funding for purchase and upkeep of the patient management system.
Helen Rowland has been identified as the named Physiotherapist to support co-ordination of the North area of the NE. Work has begun in conjunction with the tertiary neurodisability service in Newcastle and to identify a core group of individuals to progress the work.
We now have some positive responses to our funding requests and momentum is gathering to having a PMS up and running in the near future!
Please do get in touch if you not linked in to a group of therapists/medical practitioners working with CPIP UK and want to find out more or you would like to be on a regular update e mail of how we are progressing in the region.
