The CPIP-East Anglia region covers Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Norfolk, Northamptonshire and Suffolk with many Trusts/CCGs. Despite this, there is a strong regional steering group with good representation from across the geographical area and across the disciplines (including physiotherapists, orthopaedic consultants and paediatricians).
The CPIP Patient Management System (CPIP-PMS) has been funded through a joint bid to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust between Cambridgeshire Community Services (CCS) and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (CUHFT) for the first 3 years of the system (or 2 years plus one year admin).
This has been strongly supported by Miss Stohr, Orthopaedic Consultant (CUHFT) and Dr Jackie Taylor & Dr Alison Sansome, Community Paediatricians (CCS).
In order to ensure financial sustainability of the system, a ‘buy-in’ approach is being proposed across the region with many trusts already having secured agreement for ‘buy-in’ to the system on an annual basis.
Work continues with CCS Trust Information Governance and IT teams to ensure all of the requirements are being met with regards to the impact of the GDPR (data management and consent for sharing across organisations) and IT security before going ‘live’ locally in Cambridgeshire. Once trialled, the plan will be to agree contracts to roll out to the other interested trusts in the region.
Many children & young people from this region are referred to London hospitals for their orthopaedic care and so there is a need to look at how data can be shared with relevant professionals involved in a child's care when their care extends outside the CPIP-East Anglia boundaries.
Many physio teams across the region are already trained in using the CPIP and are completing the assessments and using the data to inform clinical decisions.
There is a need to scope the number of trainers in the region and ensure good coverage geographically. If any teams have a need for training in CPIP-UK, they can contact the CPIP-East Anglia Representative, who will look into whether training can be supported for them.
