It’s important to provide challenges to help babies and young children develop their movement. However, these challenges need to be achievable and rewarding. An example of this could be placing a toy slightly out of the child’s reach to encourage them to move, whilst ensuring that reaching the toy is achievable and rewarding.
It’s not always easy to find those challenges. Often a useful way to identify those challenges is thinking about what things your baby can do, with a just little bit of help from you.
What things can I do, with a little bit of help? Help me to practice those things.
“With a little bit of help, I can control my body better. This might seem a small difference to you, but it’s a huge difference to me. ”
“Be patient with me, I’m trying my best”
