APCP Research Officer - Dr Jane Simmonds

Jane combines her work as a Clinical Lead in Paediatric Physiotherapy for the Hypermobility Unit with leading the MSc / PGDip/ PGCert pathways Advanced Paediatrics Physiotherapy and Paediatric Studies at Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, University College London.  She is also the medical advisor to several UK patient charities and is a Scientific and Medical Board member of the International Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Society.

Jane’s clinical and research interests include hypermobility, Ehlers Danlos syndrome, dysautonomia, sport and performance injuries and functional rehabilitation.

She has authored more than 60 peer reviewed publications and regularly presents at national and international conferences and symposia. 

As APCP Research Officer, Jane has primary responsibility for APCP Research and Education Awards and for chairing the APCP  Conference Abstract Committee.  

When asked what motivated her to join the APCP National Committee and to take of the role of APCP Research Officer, Jane explained that 'Having very much enjoyed almost 40 years in the physiotherapy profession and as a committed clinician, educator and researcher with a particular interest in paediatrics and child health, I felt that I wanted to help support, enhance and facilitate APCP members with their research'

Jane is happy to offer help and advice to members with questions relating to the Research and Education Awards, Conference Abstracts and other general research questions.
