APCP Northern Ireland Region Evening Webinar - Functional Neurological Disorder in Paediatrics

'Amazing presentation and content.  I have listened to many training sessions about FND and this was more detailed and  understandable than all of them put together'

Functional Neurological Disorders

The APCP Northern Ireland Region hosted an evening webinar on Tuesday, 17th November 2022 with neurological physiotherapist, Josh Kwant looking at Functional Neurological Disorders in Paediatrics.

Josh trained in Glasgow, working there for a number of years before moving to a job in Belfast.  He has worked in a broad range of inpatient, outpatient and domiciliary environments, predominantly with people with neurological issues. In every department he has encountered people suffering from functional disorders, a condition which has fascinated and challenged him.  Currently he splits his work between the Belfast Community Stroke Team and private domiciliary seeing a variety of neurological conditions including children with functional neurological disorder.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Understand the pathophysiology of Functional Neurological Disorder
  • Understand the role of the physiotherapist in Functional Neurological Disorder

The webinar was well attended with just over 100 members attending.  The presentation was followed by a lengthy Q&A session.

Josh delivered a really informative overview of the management of Functional Neurological Disorders which was well recevied by attendees with some very positive feedback.  The delegate feedback included several requests for a follow-up study day to facilitate a more in in depth look at the topic.
