The APCP North East Region hosted its first webinar on Thursday, 18th March 2021.
In this evening webinar Jane Robinson, an Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner at the Chronic Pain Management Team at Sheffield NHS Foundation Trust, attempted to give attendees a basic understanding of pain education and confidence to contain and manage pain at a community level, perhaps whilst waiting for a referral to a pain team.
The presentation included an introduction to pain education and the use of metaphors. The importance of family function was also considered together with the need to establish 'What Matters to Me' for the child / young person to help establish activities to assist with functional improvement.
218 members attended the webinar with the majority of attendees rating the webinar as excellent or good. Attendees were particularly appreciative of Jane's recommendations for online pain educationresources that children and their families can be sign-posted to.
