Use of Botulinum Toxin in Children with Neurological Conditions

This document is Evidence Based Guidance for Physiotherapists and targeted at paediatric physiotherapists involved in the management of children with neurological conditions where outline botulinum toxin may be an appropriate adjunct to treatment.

To date there are no standardised pathways or consensus of practice for providing outline toxin injection services for children. Current provision and practice varies from one locality to another throughout the UK.

The document is based on the available clinical evidence together with expert opinion. Throughout the document the recommendations have been graded where appropriate to provide the reader with an indication of the effectiveness of the intervention in relation to the level of scientific evidence.
