Guidelines for Nasopharyngeal Suction of a Child or Young Adult

This guideline has been produced to give those people undertaking nasopharyngeal suction in children an up-to-date evidence based guide, to ensure a safe and effective technique.  Where evidence is lacking, consensus has been reached by specialist respiratory paediatric physiotherapists across the UK.  It is intended that this is used as a template; additions may be needed to fit in with local policies.

Paediatric Respiratory Physiotherapy training for support workers, carers and family members in the community

The APCP Respiratory Committee are in the final stages of producing a consensus statement about the safe delegation of respiratory physiotherapy techniques to support workers, carers and family members. This document has been reviewed by APCP members who are specialists in this area of practice, by nursing colleagues and by professional advisors at the CSP. We hope to publish this on the APCP website in the next few weeks.

High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFCWO) & Mechanical Insufflation–Exsufflation (MI-E) Pathway

This document recommends criteria to be used across Coventry and Warwickshire when requesting funding for high frequency chest wall oscillation (HFCWO) and mechanical insufflation-exsufflation (MI-E) for individual patients alongside the available evidence base. These devices are provided as standard treatment in some areas for individuals with neuromuscular disease (NMD) based on recommended standards of care.
