APCP Neonatal Committee - Lacey Assessment of Pre-term Infants - PEER REVIEW DAY

File 202714Please note this update is only for those physiotherapists who have already attended a course on the Lacey Assessment of the Preterm Infant since September 2007 in Edinburgh, or attended the update on 28th September 2007.

The course will update participants in the use of Joan Lacey’s assessment of preterm infants. Joan’s unique method of assessment has proven to have 86% sensitivity and 83% specificity and 96% negative predictive value for subsequent Cerebral Palsy. In her 2004 published research it was found to be more reliable than cranial ultrasound.

This course will cover

The course will cover:

  • LAPI assessment form / revision
  • LAPI assessment categories and interpretation of the LAPI
  • Problem solving / case studies

The course will be run by Peta Smith and Adare Brady Consultant Neonatal Physiotherapists.
